STEELE THERAPY

You've been to talk therapy, working through the symptoms and patterns you're ready to change. But something still feels missing. You know how you want to feel, but you're not sure how to get there.

You may already know the story and understand why. But whatever's actually driving it lives somewhere below where talking can reach, and knowing hasn't been enough to change it.

Maybe you're tired of bracing for it, or working around it so it doesn't take over your day. You don't want another skill for managing it, you want it to actually be different.

Not everyone needs the same thing from this work. Some people are here for deep trauma processing. Some are looking to somatically process material they hold in their body. Some want a case consult. Some are looking for community, or a space that's specifically queer and safe. Explore what might work for you.

How we can work together

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

QUEER STEP-PARENt coaching

EMDR CONSULTING

EMDR INTENSIVES

Individual therapy is where you get to slow down and look closely at your own patterns — the ones that shape how you show up in conflict, in relationships, under stress. It's space that's entirely yours.

When we do internal work in therapy, we can show up with greater ease and vulnerability in our community and relationships. Collective contexts helped shape you and your individual transformation can also help to reshape the collective. This is the invitation therapy offers: not just personal change, but change that moves through everything you’re connected to.

Talk therapy can give you insight, but often insight alone can't touch the felt sense underneath it — the one that shows up in your relationship patterns, anxiety, or stress response. Reaching that level of transformation means going past talking about it and working directly with the nervous system that originally learned it. In my work with clients, I integrate these approaches in the room, following what your nervous system needs in the moment. This is where the felt shift happens – not only from understanding your story better, but from your body finally being able to move through something it's been holding onto.

COMMON THERAPY THEMES

EMDR Intensives

EMDR Intensives offer a focused, accelerated path to healing – one that isn't dependent on the structure of one hour of therapy per week to feel different. Your nervous system will get the sustained time it needs to work on something it may have been holding onto for years, without having to stop mid-process and walk back into your day. After moving through an EMDR Intensive, clients often report feeling lighter, less stuck and can return to their regular therapy with a new perspective and transformation.

You likely already understand your history and what you want to shift in your life but don’t know how to make the transformation tangible. Clients come to intensives often having spent years in traditional talk therapy gaining insight into their stories and patterns, but still find themselves struggling to live free from deeply embedded beliefs or patterns. Others find the pace of weekly therapy to be inhibiting their depth of processing and are looking for faster ways to reach their goals, or that their schedules cannot accommodate weekly therapy. An EMDR Intensive gives you the transformation of weekly EMDR therapy at a more efficient and accelerated rate.

EMDR Intensives

Every EMDR Intensive is tailored to you, your goals, and needs. It is modeled after the evidence-based 8 phase EMDR model. The process begins with a 30 minute complimentary consultation to determine if continuing with intensive therapy could be an appropriate fit. Intensives could be anywhere between 2-6 hours of therapy, sometimes for consecutive days or intermittently. The structure is set around what best fits your needs and goals.

A common question is whether you can actually handle this much processing at once. You can.

My job is to build the structure and pacing that make that work possible without overwhelming you. Many clients report feeling tired after an intensive session, but also that they felt safe to go to difficult places and heal or move what has been stuck for them. That’s what an EMDR Intensive is for – the depth, the time, and the container to finally help rewire your nervous system and begin to shift your patterns.

EMDR Intensives

• You are actively in a crisis situation
• You have significant dissociation that is not yet well managed (dissociation is not an exclusionary factor to intensive treatment, but is best suited for those who have a deep understanding of their system of parts/ego states)
• You're hoping to talk through your story rather than work through it on deeper levels
• You want a “quick-fix”

• You might already know your story and you can name the pattern, but naming it hasn't been enough to change it
• Weekly sessions feel like you're constantly restarting instead of going deeper
• Accessing deep emotional material within an hour timeframe is difficult for you
• You have a specific memory, event, or pattern you can point to and want to move through directly
• You're willing to feel tired and worked afterward in exchange for real movement
• Your goal is to work through sexual assault or abuse

COMMON INTENSIVE THEMES

EMDR Consultation is for clinicians who have completed or are enrolled in an EMDR basic training. Consultation is a collaborative relationship: we’ll talk through your use of EMDR, and review your cases and case questions. Throughout consultation, I will provide feedback and skills-teaching as questions arise.
Consultations can take place in both group and individual formats. Groups provide an excellent way to learn from other clinicians and their cases, while individual consultation provides one-on-one time to focus solely on your skills and questions. Groups take place for 90 minutes and individual consultation is for 60 minutes.

I am currently an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training and can provide up to 15 of the 20 hours required for EMDRIA certification. In addition to EMDRIA certification, consultation is an excellent opportunity to continue to refine therapeutic skills, receive constructive feedback, and collaborate on cases.

EMDR Consulting
EMDR Consulting

Individual: $60
Group: $30

Consulting RATES

Consultation is not clinical supervision, and EMDRIA Certification hours are not recommended to overlap with supervision hours for licensure. Consultation is also not psychotherapy, as combining the two raises ethical concerns of a dual relationship. When seeking certification with EMDRIA, it is expected that the consultee will show proof of their work, which might include video/audio recording, transcripts and/or case presentations, and receive feedback from the consultant.

A Note for Therapists

As a queer stepparent or "bonus adult" in a child's life, you might be navigating isolation, frustration, communication challenges, and uncertainty about what family and belonging mean for you. You might be feeling powerless around decision-making or boundary setting, repressing your feelings or venting to your partner in ways that lead to tension, or fearing there may not be a way forward that honors both your queerness and your role in the family.

Although I draw on my experiences as a therapist and a queer stepparent, this is not a group therapy. We will not use therapeutic interventions to create transformation. Rather, the work here is to gain an awareness of what is being triggered in the stepparenting role and to learn some ways to respond to this instead of reacting to this. Participants may find they make connections and want to take material they had insights about to their own therapy sessions. Our focus will be on learning and unlearning the ways we want to show up in our families and with children that feel aligned with who we want to be. Although feelings will come up to process throughout our time together, this group is less about a reopening of our wounds and more about community support and mapping new blueprints together.

Queer Step-parenting

EMDR CONSULTING

• Expand your skills for grounded, respectful leadership with kids and teens — rooted in authenticity rather than authority.
• Develop queer-affirming strategies for building connection in your blended or chosen family and communicating with your partner in ways that deepen trust.
• Recognize and tend to your own wounds as they surface in family dynamics, so you can respond with compassion instead of reactivity.
• Reimagine what family means for you as a queer person, expanding your vision of belonging and the role you play within it.

Queer Step-Parenting is a 6-week community coaching program for those who don't have children and are in a partnership with someone who does. This group is created specifically for queer stepparents and "bonus adults" of any gender who want to personalize and embody their role and expand the possibilities of family. You will be a part of an online portal with your cohort to stay in touch throughout the week, share experiences with each other and have the opportunity to receive in-real-time feedback.

This program will help you to:

EMDR Intensives consist of 2-6 hours of therapy, sometimes for consecutive days or intermittently. This allows for deeper processing, which can resolve some issues faster, as there is not the stopping and starting of ongoing weekly therapy. EMDR Intensives are not covered by insurance, but many find them to be economically beneficial of their time.

Typical EMDR therapy happens within 55 minute sessions, often on a weekly basis, which can be covered by insurance. EMDR Intensives can take place with established clients or many will come only for an EMDR Intensive and return to their established care.

Consistency is different for everyone. We will explore what you would like to get out of therapy and how we can help get you there. Many people start on a weekly or biweekly rhythm until they feel they have reached many of their goals. Others scale back on frequency over time as they make significant progress. We will discuss what ending therapy looks like for you and how we will know when you have reached that place.
